About the Woodbridge STAR

  A National Registered Historical Site.

We are just minutes from downtown, the Theatre District, the casinos, the Riverfront, Comerica Park, Greektown, Mexican Village, the New Center Area, many Detroit jazz clubs, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Eastern Market, Windsor, the Renaissance Center and every major expressway.

Nestled in one of the city's oldest neighborhoods is the Northwood/Hunter House, a Victorian home built in 1891.  The charm of the olden times is featured in leaded and stained glass windows, marble and mahogany fireplaces, inlaid parquet floors, ornate plasterwork, 10-foot ceilings and oak woodwork.

The house was built as a private residence by the Northwood family, who were brewers at the time that Henry Ford introduced his automobile to Detroit.  The house became a church some time in the 1960’s and in the late 60’s or early 70’s it reverted back to a private residence. There are still horse-watering troughs in our carriage house.

We have three guest rooms and three suites, all with private baths.  Two of the suites have fireplaces and one has a Jacuzzi tub.  You will find each room equipped with the modern conveniences of everyday living (computer hook-ups) as well as the luxuries that make every day a little special.  If you ask nicely, perhaps we can even serve your breakfast in bed.

If you are staying in Detroit for business or for pleasure, come and explore a hidden gem in a wonderful old city - try us out!
